Most people, if they think about the end of the world at all, picture a single loud catastrophe. I've come to think that misses the most frightening thing in the book of Revelation. The deepest danger in those pages isn't a monster. It's a face people trust: a peace that actually holds, a system that genuinely makes life fairer and safer.

You can't argue someone out of that, because deception that announces itself isn't deception. But a story can let you live inside it. Walk a year with a nurse, a courier, a churchwarden, a farmer, and you feel the pull of the comfortable wrong thing from the inside.

So these are novels first, in the tradition of writers who make you forget you're reading: Endō, Greene, Ishiguro, Marilynne Robinson. In them, faith is never something a character says. It's something it costs them.

The Endurance was designed whole, from the end backwards: seven trilogies, seven prequels, and a two-book close. Thirty books, one clock, one Return.
